Family loyalty
*BANG BANG BANG*
'What the...?'
'Oh good. Glad this is the right one.'
'Mum? What are you doing here?'
'Gotta ask you a favour.'
'Hi. Good to see you too. Yeah, I'm great, thanks, how about you?'
'C'mon 'eath, I'm being serious!'
'Yeah, so am I. Go on then, what kind of favour?'
'Money. Run out, 'aven't I, and I gotta pay 'im-'
'Wait, are you fucking serious? The first time I've seen you in well over a year, and you're just asking for money? Are you forgetting what happened the last time we spoke?'
'Look, he ain't gonna wait! I'm desperate. You know what they get like.'
'Maybe you shouldn't get into debt with your dealer.'
'Well, there ain't nothin' I can do about it now! I just need some money 'til I get paid, that's all.'
'What makes you think I have any money to give you?'
'You're fuckin' loaded now! You've got your rich boyfriend, 'aven't you?'
'...I'm a stay at home parent. I earn the odd bit from gigs but the rest of the time we live off Ellis' money.'
'Stay at home parent?'
'Yes, Mum, my daughter. The one we fell out over. Remember her? Your granddaughter?'
'Oh, that fuckin' alien? Sorry, but your boyfriend's green shit isn't owt to do with me.'
'…You know, I am really fucking tired of people insulting her. First off, she's not even green, she's turquoise. Second, she's a fucking person! Not only that, she's a baby. What the hell gives you or anyone else the right to call her names? What did she ever do to you?'
'Alright, Jesus, calm down. This ain't about that anyway.'
'I already told you, I don't have any money to give you. And Ellis isn't gonna wanna give you any either.'
'Why not? Don't be tight!'
'Because you insulted him and his baby? Besides, he's a fucking cop! You really think he's gonna give you drug money? Sorry, but there's nowt I can do for you.'
'You know what'll 'appen if I don't pay? I'll get fucked up. You wanna have to live with that?'
'No, but I can't help you! How many times? Even if I did have the money, it's nothing to do with me anyway! I'm not getting into your shit.'
'Wow, fuckin' nice. So much for family loyalty.'
'You wanna talk about family loyalty? You're the one who tried to force me to pick between me and my own child! And here you are today, not because you wanna make it up with me, but instead because you want me to do something for you. It's not me that's disloyal, Mum. It's you.'
'Well you'd better 'ope in the future your kid doesn't fuckin' betray you like you 'ave done me, you fuckin' shit'ead.'
'Just leave, you selfish cow.'
'Fine! Fuck you then!'
Elsewhere...
'Hey, wait up!'
'Oh, hey.'
'I saw some of your shoot. You've got a great body, if you don't mind me saying.'
'Heh, thanks. I don't mind at all. You're pretty nice yourself.'
'Thank you. What's your name?'
'Zen. Short for Zenith. My parents like unusual names.'
'Ooh. I'm Brianne, but you can call me Brie.'
'Nice to meet you, Brie. Y'know, if there's one thing I like about this job, it's getting to meet good-looking women.'
'Hehe. Makes up for the hours of standing or sitting around in one place. I'm kinda tired after today.'
'Mm, yeah, me too.'
'So now I'm looking to unwind a little.'
'...Though I reckon I could probably find some more energy later, after a couple of drinks.'
'Is that where you're going? Hey, I know some good bars in the area. I live around here. I could show you, if you like.'
'I like the sound of that, Zen.'
'Glad to hear it!'
'So if you live round here, does that mean you might be up for going back to yours afterwards, for a coffee? If that's not too forward?'
'No, no, not too forward. I can make you a coffee, if it won't be too late for you to get home.'
'Oh, I'm staying the night anyway. It makes no difference.'
'Great!'
