Sisterly advice

'Oh yeah, I just remembered. I brought home some more flowers earlier. Put 'em in a vase in the bedroom.'

'Aww, nice! Who were they from?'

'A woman whose kid I helped escape their house. They were so grateful. Really nice people.'

'That's lovely. You're amazing, you know that?'

'Nah, it's just the job.'

'A very brave one, even though I am biased! I think what you do is incredible. There's no way I'd have the balls to do it.'

'Thanks. Someone's gotta do it, y'know?'

'Mm. You know how much I worry, but there's no denying it's your vocation.'

'Yeah. I have a real passion for it. Sure, it might be fucking awful sometimes, but on the whole it's worthwhile.'

'Definitely. I'm glad people like you exist. How was today's shift anyway?'

'Uneventful. No major shouts or anything. There was actually a lot of sitting on our asses playing video games. So yeah, good day.'

'Aw, I'm glad. It's nice to see someone having a decent time of it, at least.'

'Yeah, can't complain. How're you then?'

'Okay, I guess. Been better, been worse.'

'Hang in there. I know it's been a real shitshow lately, but... things'll improve. It can't stay like this forever.'

'I know. Thanks.'

'No problem. It'd be nice if we could hear some good news for once. Something we can all be happy about.'

'You're right. Like the wedding. That did a good job of cheering everyone up, even if it was only for one day.'

'It was amazing. Shame no-one else is getting hitched.'

'Maybe I should give Ellis a nudge.'

'Heh, yeah. Y'know, once upon I time I'd never have believed in the idea of Heath getting married, but now... yeah, it's definitely gonna happen. There's no way those two aren't in it for the long haul. If Ellis can put up with him for this long, he won't be getting rid of him now.'

'Oh, you. You're right though, they're such a lovely little family now. Charon thinks the world of Heath.'

'Probably 'cause they've got the same mental age. Hey, no insult there, I do too!'

'No kidding. You still find farts funny.'

'Like you don't! And who exactly did I have that blow up dick fight with?'

'Okay, okay, point taken.'

'But yeah, they'd have a great wedding.'

'Aww, imagine Nix as a flower girl. That'd be adorable.'

'It would.'

'Speaking of kids, though... I can tell you're desperate to be a mum.'

'...You know me too well. Still, I did agree we'd wait.'

'I'm kinda in two minds. Part of me wants to go for it and part of me thinks it's not the right time.'

'Well, there's no rush. Don't you worry about me being broody. I'm not quite at the point of stealing someone else's baby.'

*knock knock*

'I'll get that.'

'Oh, Tristan!'

'Hey.'

'Yeah, yeah, okay. Ease up.'

'No way. I haven't seen you in ages. This is an "I missed you" hug.'

'Fine. Guess I shouldn't have expected any different.'

'Nope! Hi, Roxxi. Thanks for bringing him.'

'That's okay. It was his idea.'

'So is there any particular reason you came over or did you just want to visit?'

'The latter. I need to get used to going out again, and your house is familiar and safe. I don't have any fear of this place, at least. That, and I kinda missed you too.'

'Well, it's great to see you. Come in. I'll get you a drink. Both of you.'

'Thanks.'

'Hey Tristan! Wasn't expecting you.'

'It's a surprise visit. I hope I'm not interrupting your evening.'

'No, not at all! We weren't doing anything special. Sit down.'

'What can I get you both?'

'I'll have a coffee, because I guess you won't allow me to have a beer.'

'We've got no beer in. Anyway, it's up to your mother whether you're allowed to drink.'

'Hmm... I wouldn't mind him having one. He's responsible. Another day, though, since there's no booze in.'

'I could go to the shop?'

'Oh, you don't have to!'

'I don't mind. To be honest, I'd like one for myself. I don't usually drink during the week, but as a one-off, why not?'

'Aww, thanks.'

'Yeah, thanks Logan.'

'You're welcome any time. See you in a few.'

'Bye!'

'None of this'll matter once we're in Isla Paradiso anyway. The drinking age is lower.'

'Ooh, lucky you! I can just see you hitting up all the bars.'

'Heh. Out on the lash. Suppose I can dream.'

'Don't just dream, live it! Once you're good and ready, of course. I bet you three could have some great nights out.'

'But don't you be bringing any girls back to ours! I'm open minded, but not that open minded.'

'Not much chance of that, with this thing. Though I guess I'll be okay on pirate theme nights.'

'Hey, it's fine. You look okay. And even if you didn't; it's not about what you look like, it's about how you carry it. You have to go out there and own it. People are attracted to confidence, and you have loads of it.'

'I used to.'

'And you will again. I know you, Tristan. You're no shrinking violet like me. I'm not quite sure how I ever landed Logan, to be honest...'

'Because you're obviously a match made in heaven? You two are a lovely couple.'

'Awww, thanks.'

'Mum's right. Jeez, it was always obvious, even when you were teenagers and I was a little shit winding you up about it.'

'Haha, I haven't forgotten that! You four were terrible, though you were the worst. Having said that, I think Carmella wanted us married off from day one.'

'She did. But she got her wish!'

'Anyway, thanks for the advice, Raya. I think you might have a point.'

'Of course I do! Trust me. Your big sister is always right.'

'Always?'

'Always.'
