Scumthorpe-Farrington links
This is Fanny Scumthorpe. She married John Atwood, a school headmaster. However, it wasn't for money, as she had plenty of that herself. It wasn't for looks, and it wasn't for any other ulterior motive either. No, Fanny seemed to have chosen John out of a genuine affection.
This is John. A kind man who was too nice for this family. A man who became a victim of the selfishness of others.
They had a son, Miles.
Who even in childhood had an amazing talent for making the creepiest insane expressions.
Miles loved his mother, though. He was very happy with his little family.
Unfortunately, Fanny was a Scumthorpe, and so she operated a number of illegal and morally-corrupt schemes, the most notable of which being a jewel trade. She was eventually discovered, and sent to jail. That's the last thing known about her. This ended the marriage.
A vulnerable John was distraught, and found himself remarrying within six months on the rebound.
To Olivia.
They had a daughter together, Sheri. Miles was not particularly fond of his new stepmother and sister.
But John was insistent upon playing happy families.
The Atwoods were friends with another powerful and wealthy family, the Farringtons.
They consisted of Sterling, a banker. An evil (of course), puritanical man with warped views on women and sexuality.
Isla, the Lady of the house whose job it was to sit around and....look good? Aria actually has a middle name, and it came from her paternal grandmother.
They had two children, Tate, who needs no introduction, and Edward, a shy, bookish boy who worked very hard but also happened to be the unfavourite.
And that is the family background.
